The Hotel Colorado is a beautiful place with a torrid past. Upon entering, it's like stepping back almost 100 years. We checked in and set about wandering this beautiful place. Our room, equipped with a balcony was stunning. We locked the balcony door before turning in, only to be awakened at 4 am to the room freezing. The door, which was locked was now wide open. one of our party also reported that he had to battle someone for his covers in the night, he was sleeping alone. We also noticed that appliances in our room refused to work at times, and batteries were used within moments. The room next to us had an adjoining door to our room and we noticed the lights going on and off in that room, along with the sound of a cat. We had an issue with the heat working in the room, at which time Cliff went to the front desk to report it and advised the desk clerk to let the pepole in the room next to us know incase they had issues as well...after all the lights were going on and off in there...the desk clerk informed Cliff that the room next to us was vacant. Saturday morning I wandered down to the desk and asked the morning clerk if the people in the room next to us had a cat, after all we heard it in the night. The day clerk also informed me that there was no one in the room next to us. I also advised him of the balcony door incident, at which point he very candidly informed me that the hotel was haunted, it was probably one of the many ghosts, and that the third floor where we were staying was the most haunted place in the hotel. He then slipped me an internal memo for the staff of the hotel listing the many sightings and strange happenings of the hotel. We set the camera to burst, captering 3 photos at a time and set off. The photos we found things we can't explain are listed below. We also had an instance of the elevator going between floors on it's own and the sound of children playing in the hall when there was no one there. We are still reviewing audio for evidence. Is this place haunted? We can't say for sure, BUT we can say there is plenty of paranormal activity!
Orb in Devereaux Dining Room from 5/12 investigation
reflection of a 2nd non existant person in the mirror outside Deveraux room
Figure in the door Devereaux Room
Our most intresting pic yet..if you look closely at Cliff, there is someone standing infront of him distorting his appeareance. We can assure you, Cliff does not have a receding hairline and does not have pointy ears.
We tried to recreate the "man on the bench" pic and were unable to do so.....
Room 254 closed to the public due to complaints of paranormal activity
The figure in the door...compate it to a portrait of Mr. Devereaux......
Our second prelim of the Hotel Colorado done on 5/12/07 yielded some intresting finds! Along with some history we did not uncover on the last trip, we were also given access to some unoccupied rooms that had reports of paranormal activity. The 2 most active places we found on this trip that we were granted access to were the Devereaux Hall and the 2nd floor. On our last trip, we experienced doors opening and closing in room 328 along with the lights in room 329 turning on and off. We also experienced strange happenings in the basement. On this trip, we uncovered that there was a fire at the hotel at one time that has prevented one of the hidden staircased from accessing the lobby level of the hotel. We were asked to check this information from our resident medium, Angelic, and we werwe able to confirm this for her :) In room 254, one team meber experienced having their hair pulled and one team member experienced what felt like someone jumping on the floor behind him. Room 225 had doors open and close as well. When attempting to enter room 342, the managers key refused to work in the door on mutiple attempts and when trying to enter, we could hear someone moving around in the room...upon entering the room was empty. Room 251 reports of housing the ghost of a little girl who passed away in the hotel in a tragic accident, however that room was unaccessable. We were advised that the Devereaux room still houses the original furnature owned by the Devereaux's in 1893. Reports in this area include Mr Devereaux watching people from the door. The previous night, one of the night auditors stayed in the Pine Belltower Suite on the 5th floor. He reported to us that he was awakened at aprioximately 3am by a woman pacing at the foot of his bed and taking the covers from him. One of the other night managers reported to her that she had her mother stay in the same room several months prior. Her mother was awakened by a call coming to the room from the hotel, a frantic woman urgently requesting help. No calls were made into the hotel when this occured. We plan to return again to tis beautiful place in the fall to follow up further.....
